We were able to go to Disney World recently. Some key points to remember is to try to figure out your plan for the day in the whatever park you are in. We visited the Magic Kingdom. As DVC members that were staying on property, we had the right to go half an hour before the general public. We did not use this but entered the park half an hour later when the general public could go in. Even going at that time, we found that for the first few hours the lines were shorter than later in the day.
We did stay at DVC for the very first time at our home resort which is the Polynesian. This was our first time staying there. We really all enjoyed it. Some of the highlights were that we could watch the fireworks show from the Magic Kingdom each night as they also play the music at the Polynesian that goes along with the fireworks show. We had a beautiful view across Seven Seas Lagoon to the Magic Kingdom and the fireworks.
We also stayed for a few days at the Grand Floridian. It is very convenient that we could walk, take the boat shuttle, or take the monorail from the Polynesian to get to the Grand Floridian. Walking it was only 10 minutes to get from the new Island Tower lobby at the Polynesian to the lobby in the Grand Floridian. The vibes are very different between the two resorts, and we enjoyed both of them. I like that at the Polynesian they play tropical and island music and there is a very island and south seas theme. At the Grand Floridian it is Victorian and elegant. Both are nice and staying at one you can easily go to the other and eat at the restaurants in either resort. The boat only takes 5 minutes and they depart every 20 minutes. We watched the fireworks from both resorts as the view can be a little different.
